Exploring the Challenges of Barrier-Free Toileting in Air Travel

No.1 Use of Care Lifts in Public Toilets in Scotland

We will introduce Changing Places toilets. In the UK, more than 2,600 public toilets are equipped with care lifts and height-adjustable beds. We will introduce examples of use and operation methods. We propose the possibility of care lifts in Japanese public toilets.

No.2 Promotion of Universal Tourism in Hyogo Prefecture

Hyogo Prefecture promotes universal tourism where everyone can enjoy travel without concern, regardless of age or disability. We will introduce initiatives for fiscal year 2025 based on Japan's first Universal Tourism Promotion Ordinance.

Real voices to address challenges in soft stool care and implement in product development

Fecal incontinence is one of the major challenges in excrement care.
However, currently, most excrement care devices are designed for urinary incontinence,
and there are few products specifically for fecal incontinence, limiting the options available.

In fact, there are products such as disposable diapers and pads designed for soft stools,
but they are rarely found in drugstores and other retail outlets,
and information about them is not sufficiently reaching those who need it.
As a result, even when there is a need for such products, they are rarely discussed,
and in many cases, they are not recognized as “options available for selection.”

Based on the results of an online survey conducted by the IBD Network on bowel control and quality of life among patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD),
we will explore the necessity and future potential of soft stool pads.

By focusing on overlooked needs, we aim to expand options for bowel care by seeking new product ideas and support strategies from the voices of those directly affected.
